Dedicated to preserving the very best of pop/rock music from the 60's/70's, with an emphasis on less well known songs/artists that are in danger of being forgotten. I have found over the years that often the best songs by popular artists don't chart well, because they are not "commercial" enough.
As evident from my videos, my tastes range from light to heavy. I look for melody and beauty and love songs with a good/positive/thoughtful message.
Some of the best music I have ever heard came from BBC "Top of the Pops from London", particularly from lesser know groups. These songs which were recorded in the BBC studios during a single day, often had a spontaneity and energy which meant that they were (to me) much better than the formal, over produced record versions that followed. I taped many of the songs at the time but the quality is variable. I began by posting several of these songs on you tube and replace them if/when better versions become available.

Elton John: "60 years on" after 50 years on
An amazing live studio performance from Elton John early in his career, from his first live album, 17-11-70. It must be the only genuine rock song where the piano takes the lead. There are many things to love about the performance. In particular, I love the contrast between the exquisite, tinkling piano only interludes, followed by rock hard walls of sound. And all from 3 only musicians and instruments. Such talent!
There are many versions of the song but this one has to be the best. According to Wikipedia:
"John has stated in several interviews that he believes that this recording is his best live performance. He has also cited the album as a great showcase for the musicianship of drummer Nigel Olsson and bassist Dee Murray. It is also the only officially released example of what John's live band sounded like prior to the arrival of guitarist Davey Johnstone, who wouldn't be a member until the release of Honky Château in 1972."
Beware of imitations! The original version of the song has been butchered (in my opinion) by a later remix.

Some "light relief". As viewed from my computer desk. It's nice to watch people and creatures enjoying themselves.

A very diverse selection of favorite songs from 1968, from Tommy Boyce/Bobby Hart, Plastic Penny and Traffic. Details: 1. Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart - I wonder what she's doing tonight. This song moves along at a frantic pace. The duo were prolific songwriters, especially for the Monkees, including their theme song. "Words" was the one I really liked. 2. Plastic Penny - Baby you're not to blame...

A selection of three favorite songs from 1968, from R Dean Taylor, Barry Ryan and Cupid's Inspiration. Details: 1. R. Dean Taylor - Gotta see Jane Probably better known for his "Indiana wants me", but I prefer this one. A frantic sort of sound with nice base and backing vocals and instruments. 2. Barry Ryan - Eloise. This epic described as "symphonic rock" was Barry Ryan's biggest hit. I was su...

A selection of three favorite songs from 1967 from Eric Burdon and the Animals, Chris Farlowe and Vanilla Fudge. These are about the "heaviest" I could find. I also have a selection of three beautiful songs and three from top groups, from the same year. Details: 1. Eric Burdon and the Animals - When I was young. A top favorite at the time and it still sounds great now. A very distinctive, innov...

A selection of three favorite songs from 1967. This selection consists of less well known songs from top groups the Rolling Stones, Hollies and Pink Floyd. Details: 1. Rolling Stones - Ruby Tuesday. The Rolling Stones, known for their "loud, aggressive" rock" music, also produced some rather lovely music such as She's a rainbow, Angie, and this one. 2. Hollies - Pay you back with interest. The ...

Rundgren returned the favour, covering Do Ya
Saw Moody Blues in New York in 1964, my first rock concert and was hooked from their first song. Justin Hayward had and has the most amazing voice.
And I'm just a singer...
Your music always drew me Heaveneards.May Jesus Christ give you many new songs for all eternity
What would later be called "Heavy"!!🤠
Thank you !! I've been a Monkee fan forever; since the 70's. Completely regretting not going to a concert years ago Mickey, Davy, Peter and Mike . . . My forever beach troubadour boy band. 🌴🌴🌴✨🏄🌅✨🌴🌴🌴 ✨📺🙉🙊🙈🙉✨ 🌼🏵️🌞🏵️🌼🏵️🌼
My all time favorite group too. Saw them 8 times in concert from 1969 to around 2010
They had the most beautiful and fascinating album covers ...
I'm crying father !!! Please put a rainbow over my head cause this brother named Barbara Allen I love very much
And the tide rushes in, brilliant, but no watching and waiting, can't believe it.
Yes, I missed that one. As noted previously, I wanted to review/ upgrade the video 2-3 years back but was blocked.
AGREE! Watching and waiting is a masterpiece.
Went to see this band at my local venue in Wollaston in1970.I could see then how good they were.still have the l.p. To this day.
Thanks for sharing.
Only first were monkey fans we had respect the fans of today have no respect they’re all I can’t say what I wanna say cause I might get kicked off of UA-cam but so help me God that’s what they are scumbags because they have no respect for Zane. They want to Sleep do the nasty see at least David Jones when he was talking about it to be funny he did it with respect, but these girls are all s***s me. I wanna be with Zane and it makes me sick. I’ll fight everyone of them. I have to I hate girls like that but we as monkey fans we had respect for our favorite guy not like these girls. They are s***s sorry to say that, but it’s true.
The political comments have no business being here. I've been a fan since 1965. My favorite band of all time. The last time I saw them (or what was left) was shortly before Graeme Edge died.
Gracias xtu musica! MOODI BLUES ! EXELENTES!
Amen amen
*R.I.P.* *Mike* *Pinder* "Mr. Mellotron". Hell of a lovely chap, too - he and I communicated via email some 15 years ago. I'd mentioned that this is my favourite Moody's song EVER.
My number 3 favorite band. I've seen them 6 times, the next one was always better than the last. I never thought the last time I saw them that I would never get to see them again. Each time was a gift.
Your first two? The Beatles and?
Fantastic thank you 👏😊❤️proven purpose.
I like hearing versions that sound as if they were NOT remastered
Thanks Ted for your time in selecting your fave Moodies Tracks,Watching and Waiting is a great Seduction Track as is The Carpenters- Goodbye to Love,100% Success Rate as the girls desire to be romanced into bed!!!!!

Yes.
A summer sounding song underated by a underated group
Yes, Ted. I just turned 59 and I agree!
When life held endless promise, love was around every corner and the future a glowing path toward oneness and peace, there were the Moodies, painting the emotional landscape of our lives. Nearing life's end, so grateful our generation had the greatest music the world has ever heard. How can we thank you for the memories, the joy you gave us except to share this gift with our children?
I absolutely love the sound of the voice of Ray Thomas on harmony. And his tambourine playing is perfect!

I have long run out of superlatives to describe the Moodies and especially Justin. I have fallen asleep with their songs since Seventh Sojourn came out way back in 1972. I know all their songs almost by heart.. That group was sent to us from heavens above. Like Mozart... out of this world.
It is amazing to read comments from people who get the way this music makes you feel. Every emotion on the planet!
Excellent choices!

Listening since 1970 till present. Fabulous band.
Simply the best
The CD that I bought did not have the written statements(for lack of a better way of putting it on my part) after each song. For example, "Into the fire" It says " Out of the frying pan" and after the song(track) "Living Wreck" it say something like "Support your local groupie" . Wish I had the album better.
🇬🇧❤️🇺🇲👍
Yes it is!!! ⚡🙂⚡
とても素敵なVOICE。 何度聞いても飽きない。
Finally, a list I agree with. You got this selection spot on. Blue Jays album was something else. My wife walked down the Aisle to Procal Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale, and we left the Cathedral to Nights in White Satin. Wonderful memories. (1979)
Saw them in Oakland Arena in early '74 shortly before they broke up. In short, they were magnificent. Playlist to die for...listen to the best of the MB, that was it.
March 2024. I went to a Justin Hayward concert the other night, in Llandudno, North Wales. To say it was remarkable is an understatement. To hear Nights In White Satin live was the highlight.
Timeless, beautiful music, brilliantly performed. Always the deepest pleasure! Enjoy xxx
I have loved Mr. Hayward and the Moody Blues since 1967, and still 💞 them. Always will. Thank you for almost sixty years of wonderful songs. Luv, hugs.
Kick ass all these years later.😆😆😆✌️👍
Word !
Wish Justin & John would do a Blue Jays Tour but don't think Justin is interested.
